React Native Apps
One codebase for your iOS and Android app
React Native Apps
React Native lets one team write an app once, in TypeScript, and release it on both iOS and Android. Screens are drawn with each platform's own interface components, and most device features, such as camera, location, push notifications and payments, are available through maintained libraries. We build with Expo, which handles builds, store submission and small updates after launch. We build cross-platform apps, so if native development would suit your app better, we will tell you at the start.
What We Deliver
What's included in React Native Apps.
iOS and Android from one codebase
Screens, business logic and tests are shared between both apps, with platform-specific touches where iOS and Android users expect them.
Device features
Camera, location, biometrics, Bluetooth and payments through maintained libraries. If a feature needs custom native code, we tell you at scoping.
Updates after launch
Small fixes to the app's JavaScript can be sent with EAS Update without a full store release. Changes to native code still go through store review.
Animations and gestures
Swipes, transitions and gesture-driven screens built with Reanimated and checked on real phones before release.
Push notifications and deep links
Notifications that open the right screen in the app, and links from email, SMS or WhatsApp that do the same.
Store release
Signing, builds and submission to the App Store and Google Play through EAS, under your own developer accounts.
Our Process
How the work runs, step by step.
Scope
We go through the screens, users and device features the app needs, and check that React Native suits it.
Screens and navigation
We plan the screens and navigation from your designs or ours, and confirm them with you before the build starts.
Build
We build the app in stages and connect it to your backend, sharing test builds you can install on your phone as each part is ready.
Test
We test on real iOS and Android phones, fix issues specific to either platform, and prepare the store listings.
Release and updates
We submit the app to both stores, set up EAS Update for small fixes, and stay on for new features if you need us.
Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about React Native Apps.
For most business apps, such as booking, ordering, field staff and customer account apps, one cross-platform codebase is usually cheaper to build and maintain than two. Separate native apps are the better call for games, heavy 3D or AR, close integration with the operating system such as watch apps or home-screen widgets, or when you need new iOS and Android features as soon as Apple and Google release them. We build cross-platform apps, and if yours needs native, we will tell you at scoping.
Both suit most business apps. React Native is the natural choice if your website or developers already use React or JavaScript, since the code and knowledge carry over. Flutter is a good fit when the app has a heavily custom design, or your team prefers Dart. We build with both and recommend one after scoping.
Small fixes to the app's code can be sent with EAS Update, so users get them without downloading a new version from the store. Larger changes, and anything that touches native code, go through a normal App Store and Google Play release. Store rules allow updates of this kind for fixes and small changes, not for changing what the app does.
You do. The app is published under your own Apple and Google developer accounts, and you get the full source code. If you do not have the accounts yet, we help you set them up.
Yes, if it has an API or we add one. We build the API side in Laravel or Node.js as well, so the app and its backend can be handled by one team.
