Bookkeeping Services for Small Businesses in Ahmedabad
Who it's for
This suits the owner-run business where the books are a shoebox of bills, a UPI history and a Tally file somebody updates when there is time. Retailers, distributors, small manufacturers, agencies, clinics and consultants in Ahmedabad who need month-end numbers they can trust, not a scramble every September. It also suits businesses that have an in-house data entry person but no one senior reviewing the ledgers before the GST return or the audit.
What's included
- Recording of all sales, purchase, expense, cash and journal entries in Tally or the software you already use, on a monthly cycle.
- Bank reconciliation for every business account and payment gateway, so the book balance matches the statement at month end.
- Debtor and creditor ledgers with an ageing statement, so you can see who owes you money and for how long.
- Ledger scrutiny before each GST return, matching sales in the books to the figures going into GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B, and purchases to GSTR-2B.
- Monthly profit and loss statement and balance sheet, with a short note on what moved and why.
- TDS workings: amounts deducted, sections applied, and data ready for the quarterly TDS return.
- Year-end closing schedules for your auditor: fixed asset register with depreciation, closing stock summary, provisions and prepaid expenses.
Documents required
- Sales invoices and delivery challans for the period.
- Purchase bills and expense vouchers, including cash expenses with supporting slips.
- Bank statements in PDF or Excel for every business account, plus credit card statements used for business.
- Cash book or a record of cash receipts and payments.
- Loan sanction letters and repayment schedules, EMI details and interest certificates.
- Existing Tally backup or accounting file, if books have already been started.
- Payroll summary: salary sheet, PF and ESIC challans where registered, and professional tax payments.
- Closing stock statement at the end of the financial year.
Typical timeline
For an active set of books we close the previous month within the first week to ten days of the following month, provided the documents reach us by the agreed date. Onboarding takes longer: we first review the last closed year, the opening balances and any unreconciled items, which normally takes one to two weeks depending on volume. Clean-up work, where books are pending for a year or more, is scoped after we see the file, because the effort depends on how much source documentation survived. We agree a date each month for documents and a date for reports, and both sides stick to it.
Why Ahmedabad businesses work with us
We work from Parswanath Chambers on Ashram Road in Ahmedabad, and we collect your bills on a date agreed in advance, so nobody has to scan three hundred pages. Books maintained for Gujarat businesses have to survive more than one reader: your GST filings, your statutory auditor, and the bank manager assessing a cash credit limit all look at the same ledgers. We keep them in a state where all three can be answered without a rewrite.
Frequently asked questions
My CA already files my returns. Why do I need separate bookkeeping?
Return filing and bookkeeping are different jobs. A tax professional files what your records show, and if the records are incomplete the return inherits the gaps. Regular bookkeeping means the sales, purchases, bank entries and expenses are recorded through the year, so the return is a summary of accurate data and the year-end audit does not turn into a reconstruction exercise.
Do I need to buy accounting software, or can you use my existing Tally?
We work in whatever the business already uses, most commonly Tally, and we can also work from Zoho Books, Busy or structured Excel registers. There is no requirement to buy new software to start. If a business has no system yet, we recommend one that fits the transaction volume and the people who will use it day to day, rather than the most expensive option.
How do you handle cash sales and UPI payments?
Cash transactions are recorded from the cash book or the daily sales record, and UPI collections are picked up from the bank statement and matched against invoices. Where UPI is received in a personal account, we flag it separately, because mixing personal and business receipts creates problems during GST scrutiny and at audit. The practical fix is one dedicated business account and one UPI handle linked to it.
Is my financial data kept confidential?
Yes. Client data is handled only by the staff assigned to your account, access to your accounting file is restricted, and we do not share your figures with any third party without your written instruction. Confidentiality is a professional obligation for an accounting firm, not an optional add-on.
Can you clean up two years of pending books?
Yes, this is common work. We start by listing what source documents exist, reconstruct the bank entries from statements, match invoices and bills against them, and identify the gaps that need your input. The output is a set of closed books with opening balances that tie to the last filed return, so the current year starts from a clean position. Time and cost depend on transaction volume and how much documentation is missing.
Send us one month of bank statements on WhatsApp and we will tell you what shape your books are in.
No obligation, no software to install.
