GST Return Filing in Ahmedabad for Small Businesses
Who it's for
This is for the trader on Ring Road, the manufacturing unit in Vatva or Naroda, the service firm on CG Road, and the freelancer who crossed the registration threshold last year and now has a GSTIN to look after. If you are filing returns yourself on the portal, or your previous accountant has stopped responding around the due date, the work is the same every month and the penalty for getting it wrong is avoidable. We handle the return cycle for proprietorships, partnership firms, LLPs and private limited companies registered in Gujarat, state code 24.
What's included
- Monthly or quarterly GSTR-1 preparation and filing, including B2B invoice level detail, B2C summary, credit and debit notes, and HSN summary.
- GSTR-3B preparation and filing, with the tax liability worked out before filing so you know the cash outgo in advance.
- Input tax credit reconciliation against GSTR-2B every cycle, with a list of suppliers who have not uploaded your invoices so you can chase them while the credit is still claimable.
- QRMP handling for eligible small taxpayers, including the quarterly return cycle and the monthly tax payment challan.
- Annual return GSTR-9 preparation, and GSTR-9C reconciliation where your turnover makes it applicable.
- Letter of Undertaking (RFD-11) filing each financial year for exporters supplying without payment of IGST.
- Notice handling: replies to portal notices for mismatch between GSTR-1, GSTR-3B and GSTR-2B, and support on ASMT and DRC intimations.
Documents required
- GST registration certificate and portal login credentials.
- Sales register for the period: tax invoices, bills of supply, export invoices, credit and debit notes.
- Purchase register with supplier GSTINs, invoice numbers, dates and tax split.
- Bank statements for all business accounts covering the return period.
- Expense bills where input tax credit is being claimed.
- Details of advances received, RCM liabilities and any stock transfers between branches.
- E-way bills raised during the period, where goods movement is involved.
Typical timeline
Once your sales and purchase data reaches us, a normal monthly return is prepared within two to three working days, and we send you the liability figure for approval before filing. ITC reconciliation adds a day where the purchase register is large. First month of onboarding usually takes longer because we reconcile your past filings and opening credit position. For fresh GST registration, the application generates an ARN immediately, and the GSTIN follows once Aadhaar authentication or physical verification of premises is completed. Backlog work, where several months of returns are pending, is quoted separately after we check the portal status.
Why Ahmedabad businesses work with us
Our office is on Ashram Road, near the Income Tax circle, a short distance from the GST offices most Ahmedabad taxpayers deal with. That matters when a registration needs physical verification or a notice needs a reply in person rather than a portal upload. We work with Gujarat businesses across textiles, engineering, chemicals and services, so the sector-specific issues, job work challans, GIDC unit addresses, export LUTs, are familiar territory rather than something we look up. If you also need a GST consultant for a new registration or a notice reply, that stays with the same team that files your returns.
Frequently asked questions
Do I have to file GST returns in a month with no sales?
Yes. A registered taxpayer must file the return for every tax period even when there is no turnover. A nil GSTR-1 and nil GSTR-3B still have to be filed, and the portal allows nil filing through SMS for eligible taxpayers. Skipping a nil return blocks the next period's filing and starts late fees running.
What are the due dates for GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B?
Monthly filers file GSTR-1 by the 11th of the next month and GSTR-3B by the 20th. Under the QRMP scheme, open to businesses with aggregate turnover up to ₹5 crore in the previous year, GSTR-1 is due by the 13th of the month after the quarter, and GSTR-3B by the 22nd for businesses based in Gujarat. QRMP filers still pay any tax due for the first two months of each quarter by the 25th of the following month. The government sometimes extends a date by notification.
My supplier has not uploaded my purchase invoice. Can I still claim the credit?
Input tax credit is allowed on the basis of what appears in your auto-drafted GSTR-2B, so an invoice the supplier has not reported is not available to claim in that period. The practical fix is to spot the gap during monthly reconciliation and get the supplier to report it in a later GSTR-1, after which the credit appears in your GSTR-2B and can be claimed, subject to the time limit for claiming credit for that financial year.
What happens if I miss a GST return due date?
Late filing attracts a late fee for each day of delay and interest on any unpaid tax. GST returns are also sequential, so an unfiled period blocks later periods, and continuous default can lead to suspension and eventual cancellation of the GSTIN, along with your buyers losing credit on your invoices.
Can you take over filing if my books are in Tally and my accountant has left?
Yes. We work directly from Tally data, Excel registers or portal downloads. The first step is a status check on the GST portal to see which returns are filed, which are pending and whether any notices are open, followed by a reconciliation of your books against what has already been filed. Only then do we start the current cycle, so old errors are not carried forward.
